Serbian analyst: Assassination of General Soleimani, US state terrorism

Belgrade, IRNA – A Serbian journalist and international affairs analyst while referring to the assassination of Iran's anti-terror commander Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani and his companions two years ago near Baghdad International Airport, said that General Soleimani assassination was “a US state-terrorist act”.

Goran Igich said in an exclusive interview with IRNA that although 10 days after the brutal and inhumane act of assassinating Commander Soleimani the butchers who committed that terrorists act were praised by the US Congress resolution, in which General Soleimani was accused of making preparations for terrorist operations, but there are at least two facts in favor of Iran in this case.

“The first fact is that the US government never presented any document to prove its claim about Commander Soleimani’s involvement in any terrorist operation. So the Americans in this case, too, like in many other cases, have breached the international laws, and acted like cowboys in contradiction with the international laws against a country that is opposed to them politically,” he added.

“The other fact is that at the time that their drone attacked Commander Soleimani’s car they did not have the Congress approval for their terrorist act, and therefore the catastrophic assassination is definitely a state-sponsored terrorist act,” said the Serbian analyst.

Igich who has also published many books and written many articles in his long years of journalism life, emphasized that General Soleimani had before that catastrophic event survived numerous other terrorist acts, but system of the drone that shot him alone was worth 65 million US dollars.

He said that in order to fire and control the laser Hellfire missile used in assassination of General Soleimani and his companions, a US MQ9 Reaper drone, which is almost soundless was used, which had taken off from the US Naval Base in Qatar, armed with four laser missiles.

He said that the major objective of that operation was weakening Iran’s geopolitical status in the Middle East region, adding, "But I must say that the Us failed to achieve the objective of weakening Iran’s military power in the region."
